Théoule-sur-Mer is a French commune with 1,413 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Grasse and the canton of Mandelieu-la-Napoule .
Théoule-sur-Mer is the southernmost municipality in the Alpes-Maritimes department. It is located on the French Mediterranean coast, about ten kilometers southwest of Cannes .
history
The natural harbor of today's municipality was of certain importance, especially in the 17th century. Richelieu therefore ordered the fortification with a fortified tower. In 1882 Théoule-sur-Mer was connected to Cannes by a railway line. Until 1929 the place was part of the city of Mandelieu-la-Napoule , only after that it was an independent municipality.
