Isola is a French commune in the Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nice and the canton of Tourrette-Levens and is a member of the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur municipality . The residents call themselves the Isoliens .
geography
Isola is located in the French Maritime Alps , around 73 kilometers from Nice and is known for the local winter sports area "Isola 2000". The municipality marker borders:
- in the north at Valdieri in Italy ,
- to the east at Valdeblore ,
- in the south-east at Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée ,
- in the south on Roure and Roubion ,
- in the southwest at Beuil ,
- to the west at Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée .
The Tinée River comes from the latter neighboring municipality and then flows through Isola.
