Castellar ( Italian Castellaro ) is a French municipality with 1100 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . The inhabitants are called Castellarois .
geography
The municipality extends north-south along the French- Italian border in the east. The elevation profile drops from north to south and from east to west in the direction of the Careï valley, which forms the natural western border of the municipality.
The place is a village perché on a rocky promontory that offers a clear view of the Ligurian and French coasts.
