Châteauneuf-Villevieille is a French commune in the Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nice and the Canton of Contes . The residents call themselves Madounencs.
geography
Châteauneuf-Villevieille is located in the French Maritime Alps . The neighboring communities are Bendejun in the north, Contes in the east, Cantaron in the south and Tourrette-Levens in the west.
history
Until 1911, Bendejun and Cantaron belonged to Châteauneuf. By decree of November 10, 1961, the community was called from December 15 "Châteauneuf-de-Contes", named after the canton of Contes. Another decree on August 5, 1992 sealed the name change to Châteauneuf-Villevieille on September 1.
