history

The Bayreuth district existed from 1797 to 1806. It was formed from parts of the Bayreuth District Administration and the Creußen District Office . The district authority was called the district directorate. Justice and administration were separated. The sub-authorities were the judicial offices of Bayreuth, Neustadt am Kulm, Pegnitz zu Schnabelwaid and Streitberg and the chamber offices of Bayreuth, Neustadt am Kulm, Pegnitz and Streitberg, the magistrates of Creußen, Neustadt am Kulm and Weidenberg. On November 2, 1806, the French military government in the Principality of Bayreuth replaced the defeated Prussia. With the Paris Treaty of 1810 , the Principality of Bayreuth - and with it the Bayreuth District - came under the Kingdom of Bavaria . The Prussian administrative structures were abolished. They were replaced by the newly created regional courts of Bayreuth , Forchheim , Lauf , Pegnitz and Schnaittach , which were responsible for both administration and justice.
