The Hofer county was under Prussian administration one of six counties in the principality of Bayreuth , based in Hof .

history

The Hofer Kreis existed from 1797 to 1806. It was formed from the Landeshauptmannschaft Hof and the Vogtland manors of this area. The district authority was called the district directorate. Justice and administration were separated. The sub-authorities were the judicial offices of Hof, Lauenstein, Münchberg, Naila and the chamber offices of Hof, Lauenstein, Lichtenberg, and Münchberg. The town of Hof was directly under the Bayreuth War and Domain Chamber. The manors were converted into patrimonial courts under Prussian law. On November 2, 1806, the French military government in the Principality of Bayreuth replaced the defeated Prussia. With the Paris Treaty of 1810 , the Principality of Bayreuth - and with it the Hof District - came under the Kingdom of Bavaria . The Prussian administrative structures were abolished. They were replaced by the newly created district courts of Hof , Münchberg , Naila and Rehau , which were responsible for both administration and justice.
