Oppenroth is a district of Weißdorf in the Hof district in Upper Franconia .

Oppenroth is close to the federal highway 289 . The Uprode castle ruins are located above the village . The place is older than the castle, it is referred to in documents as Alt-Uprode. Perhaps the tower hill Hinterer Buberg is to be seen as the predecessor building, but in terms of settlement history it may also have belonged to Bug . According to Ernst, Oppenroth consisted of ten houses with 19 families or 70 inhabitants in 1868. The Sa (a) ldorf desert has been handed down below the village . Numerous boundary stones mark the boundaries of the Bug and Weißdorf manor . A boundary stone relates to the Schönburg family in Schwarzenbach an der Saale .

The Schwarzenbach landscape painter Anton Richter made pictures of the place and its surroundings.
