history
Rothenbürg was a former Vorwerk and manor of the Vogtland knighthood . The Schlossberg rises north of the town center. In 1358, Vogt Heinrich the Elder von Weida enfeoffed the brothers Hans and Heinz von Weisselsdorf with Rothenbürg and gave them permission to build a permanent house. As early as 1363, the feudal lordship passed to the burgrave Friedrich von Nürnberg . In 1398 this festival was called "wust" and was owned by the Lords of Reitzenstein . The Burgstall Am Rothen Berg is considered a border castle and counterpart to the fortification in Rothenbürg.
