Burgstall Am Rothen Berg

The Postal Am Rothen Berg refers to a Outbound medieval hilltop castle on the Red Mountain near Lippert , in the municipality of Leupoldsgrün in the district of Hof in Bavaria .

The Burgstall is located on a mountain spur and slopes steeply, especially to the west and south. At the foot of the mountain, the Rothenbach runs as a former Grenzbach. The raised oval core mound is surrounded by a ditch and an outer wall. A square tower foundation was found on the core hill. Fragments found in the 1960s were dated to the 14th century. The castle is said to have served to secure the border in the direction of Rothenbürg until the middle of the 14th century . There, castle counts and Vogtland interests met with the office of Schauenstein . It is believed that the facility served the Leupoldsgrüner citizens as a refuge , it is said to have been used until the Thirty Years' War . The site is protected as a ground monument with monument number D-4-5636-0012.
