The tower hill castle Autengrün is a defunct tower castle (Motte) in Autengrün in the district of Hof ( Bavaria ).
From the moth , a small four-sided island surrounded by a round moat with trees is still visible. The moat has an outer wall in the east. The Motte is at a crossroads at the entrance to Oberkotzau at the junction to Wendler behind a farm. The Burgstall is a ground monument .
The tower hill castle belonged to the von Kotzau family . The family received the place in 1402 from the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich as an imperial fief. In 1414 the place, which had three courtyards in 1390, was a desert . The tower hill and the adjoining manor formed a fore . In 1609 the tower hill castle fell victim to a fire. In 1666 a granary was built from the stones from the ruins in Oberkotzau. The foundation walls on site were still visible in 1780.
