Förbau manor
The manor Förbau is an abandoned manor in Förbau , today a district of Schwarzenbach an der Saale in Upper Franconia .
The seat of "Forwein" was first mentioned in 1390 in the possession of the von Hirschberg family , who had owned Schwarzenbach Castle (on the Saale) since 1381 . The early sources speak of an upper and a lower residence. Karl Dietel suspects the Förbau ring wall in the upper residence . In 1482 a moated castle was built , which was destroyed in the Thirty Years War and replaced by successor buildings. The manor Förbau was one of the seats of the Vogtland knighthood and was equipped with a high court and a writing room. It last belonged to the von Schönburg-Waldenburg family . For the construction of the Förmitztalsperre it was acquired by the public sector and the existing structure was demolished. The street names Schloßgasse and Schloßberg remind of the location .
