The Gottsmannsgrüner Brewery , formerly v. Koch'sche Brewery , was a brewery in Gottsmannsgrün in Upper Franconia , municipality of Berg in the district of Hof , which existed from 1535 to 2010.

Members of the von Waldenfels family ran the brewery from 1956 to 2010.

Building history

The history of the property began as a mansion with a moat , which was created by Brandstein as an outwork . Parts of the moat have been preserved as a village pond. As a Vogtland manor , the seat was endowed with community rule, lower hunting and lower jurisdiction. From 1318 to 1615 the seat belonged to the von Dobeck family . Later the owners changed frequently, among others it was the Beulwitz , the Sichart von Sichartshofen, the Schönfeld and the Koch. The current system comes mainly from the time around 1830 by Georg von Koch. It is a listed building .

History of the brewery

In 1535, the von Dorbenck family received certified brewing rights for a local estate brewery . From 1660 to 1812 the brewery and brewing rights went to changing owners. In 1812 Johann David Koch, who was ennobled by King Maximilian of Bavaria in 1815 , took over the company. Since then, the brewery, which was expanded into an export brewery under Hermann von Koch, has been family-owned.

In 1956 the brewery was inherited by Hermann von Koch's daughter Elfriede Freifrau von Waldenfels. Her husband, Eberhard Freiherr von Waldenfels, became a partner and managing director. After his death, the son Ernst-Albrecht Freiherr von Waldenfels ran the business for 30 years. In 2003 his daughter Caroline Freifrau von Waldenfels-Künsberg joined the management.

Since 2009, the brewery has been cooperating with the Bischofshof brewery from Regensburg and the Weltenburg monastery brewery in the form of a sales company and bottling partnership . 2010 brewing was abandoned in Gottsmann Green, the production is in the Bürgerbräu in Naila in wage brewing process continues.
