Schwarzenstein Castle
Schwarzenstein Castle , like its predecessors, stands on the Schwarzenstein Castle Hill . It is possible to distinguish between the two noble houses, Ober- and Unterschwarzenstein.
The residence goes back to the rule Schwarzenbach- Schwarzstein in the sphere of influence of the Grafschaft Henneberg . The first documented owner was a Herr von Schaumberg , later the manor passed to the von Reitzenstein family , who belonged to the Vogtland knighthood . Heinrich August Friedrich von Reitzenstein was one of the residents . In the 18th century it was sold to the Principality of Bayreuth .
Remnants of a castle barn are still there as traces of wall and masonry. The Schlossberg is protected by its spur location with the Rosenbach and the Wild Rodach in the valley. From a tourist point of view, the area is made accessible as the “Schwamma” lookout point. There are two adjacent buildings in the immediate vicinity that were inhabited by the von Reitzenstein lines. Both castles were architectural monuments .
