The Hohenberg Castle is a castle in Hohenberg , part of Regnitzlosau in district court .

The Hohenberg manor was originally owned by the bailiffs of Weida and Plauen. In 1524 it came from Electoral Saxony to the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . As part of the local Vogtland knighthood , it had high jurisdiction and land sasserei. The von Reitzenstein family is named as the owner as early as 1340 , and with several interruptions they last kept it from 1846 to the fire of 1958. Other owners were the von Feilitzsch in the 15th and 16th centuries, the von Minckwitz family around 1600 and Hofrat Joachim Ernst von Beust at the beginning of the 18th century . The last owners were the staff, called von Reitzenstein.

Today's castle ruins are under monument protection . After a roof fire in 1958, the castle building continued to deteriorate. In the work of Brix and Lippert, reference is made to the interior of the castle building and the overgrown castle garden. Today only the entrance portal and the entrance to the castle garden have been preserved, and the remains of the wall and the dimensions of the complex are still clearly visible.

The name Hohenberg stands in contrast to the Niedernberg Castle opposite .
