history

Island with a moat

Based on a coin find, the complex is dated to around 1200. While the tower hill castle fulfilled defensive functions, there were residential buildings on the adjacent site. The hill towers in the area served to secure old roads and thus important trade routes . Due to the system of road safety, the buildings are based on an imperial order to the local nobility. In 1340, Johann von Uttenhofen can be verified as the owner of the Meissen marshal . The Uttenhofen followed along with other local nobility, especially the Rabensteiner zu Döhlau and the von Waldenfels .

Current condition

Of the ramparts, there is still an island surrounded by a moat in the center of the village . There the Quellitz flows into the southern Regnitz . No traces of building have survived on the island. The trench is between three and ten meters wide. An information board was set up in 2011. A memorial stone commemorates the artist Thea von Harbou .
