Michael Laßleben

Michael Laßleben (born January 20, 1899 in Kallmünz ; † May 9, 1972 ibid) was a German publisher and local politician .

Live and act

Laßleben was born the son of local researcher Johann Baptist Laßleben . His sister Barbara Bredow-Laßleben (1896–1962) acted as editor in the father’s publishing house, his younger brother was the graphic artist and draftsman Hans Laßleben . After finishing school, Laßleben began training as a bookbinder in Amberg in 1912 . In 1913 he switched to an apprenticeship as a printer and publisher in Regensburg .

In 1919 he added a printing company to his father's Oberpfalz publishing house in Kallmünz. After his father's death in 1928, Laßleben continued to publish his father's home magazine Die Oberpfalz . He developed the publishing house into an important specialist publisher for historical publications. In addition to the publisher's own works, mainly dissertations were printed before the Second World War . After the end of the war, numerous publications from scientific institutes and universities were published by Michael Laßleben.

Laßleben was elected mayor of Kallmünz twice, in 1937 and 1960. Under him, among other things, the town hall , the castle ruins and the plague church of St. Sebastian on the Auberg were restored. His son Erich (1931-2016) was also a publisher.
