Jakobuskirche (mountain)
The St. Jakobus Church Berg is an Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Berg in Upper Franconia .
History of the Jakobuskirche
It is documented that the pilgrimage church of Arals, founded in 1007 by the bishop of Bamberg, located between Blankenberg and Lobenstein, together with six other branch chapels, belonged to the ministral seat of Berg. In this parish of over 100 square kilometers, seven chaplains did their service, far beyond the Saale. The Jakobuskirche in Sparnberg was founded in 1166 and first mentioned in 1320. It is the mother parish of the surrounding area. Parts of the churchyard wall have been preserved. The Hofer sculptor Johann Nikolaus Knoll made the lecture cross in 1694 and the altar in 1714/15, the son Wolfgang Adam Knoll made the organ case in 1736 , the pulpit in 1742 and the baptismal angel in 1743 . On the outside of the church there are epitaphs by von Reitzenstein . Some of the knights are represented figuratively, the coats of arms refer to those of Dobeck , Zedtwitz and Feilitzsch .
