The clinic Lowenstein is a specialized hospital for pulmonology , thoracic - and vascular surgery and pain management in public ownership with headquarters in Lowenstein , district of Heilbronn , Baden-Wurttemberg .

history

The clinic was founded in 1960 as a sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers. In the mid-1970s, as a result of the decline in tuberculosis, it was restructured to become a specialist hospital for lung and bronchial diseases. In 1985 it became the Center for Pneumology, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery. Between 1996 and 2004 the building was extensively renovated in three construction phases.

In 1998 the clinic was converted into a GmbH , the sole shareholder was the State Welfare Association Württemberg-Hohenzollern , a corporation under public law with its seat in Stuttgart.

On July 1, 2007, SLK-Kliniken Heilbronn GmbH became new shareholders. Its shareholders, in turn, are the district and the city of Heilbronn . Together with Hohenloher Krankenhaus gGmbH, these formed the Regional Health Holding Heilbronn-Franken (RGHF). On June 30, 2017, Hohenloher Krankenhaus gGmbH left the RGHF again.
