Autengrün is a district of the Oberkotzau market in the Hof district in Upper Franconia .

In Autengrün there was a tower hill belonging to the von Kotzau family , which can still be seen in traces of the terrain. Earlier spellings of the place were "Autmannsgrün", "Autumsgrün" and "Annatengrün". The stone tower complex is said to have been devastated and removed only in the 17th century. The manor was built in 1735.

Autengrün was named in 1390 with three farms. Nickel von Kotzau received the place in 1402 as an imperial loan from the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich . In 1414 Autengrün was called a desert . In 1417 the Rabensteiners zu Döhlau also owned a farm.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the Oberkotzau market. Pfaffengrün still belonged to the former municipality . The list of street names from Oberkotzau also includes the street names from Autengrün.

The district road HO 7 runs through the village from the main town of Oberkotzau to Unterpferdt and Oberpferdt . Connecting roads lead to Pfaffengrün and via Am Wendler in the direction of Wustuben .

In the Autengrüner forest there are boundary stones that were erected around 1791 and have an inscription “K” for the barons of Kotzau, and sometimes also an “R” for the von Reitzenstein family .
