Marxgrün is a district of Naila .

The Marxgrün station made a decisive contribution to the development of the town. This is on the Hof – Bad Steben railway line and on the former Triptis – Marxgrün railway line . At the Marxgrün train station, the marble extracted from the nearby Horwagen marble quarry was loaded onto the train and therefore also known as Marxgrüner marble .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Naila.

Personalities

  • Ewald Klein (1899–1942), KPD member and resistance fighter against the Nazi dictatorship, was born in Marxgrün
  • Max Escher (1901–1976), artist and art educator, lived in the village until his death in 1976
  • Wilhelm Maier-Solgk (1919–2007), draftsman and illustrator
