Marxgrün is a district of Naila .

The Marxgrün station made a decisive contribution to the development of the town. This is on the Hof – Bad Steben railway line and on the former Triptis – Marxgrün railway line . At the Marxgrün train station, the marble extracted from the nearby Horwagen marble quarry was loaded onto the train and therefore also known as Marxgrüner marble .

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Naila.

Ewald Klein (1899–1942), KPD member and resistance fighter against the Nazi dictatorship, was born in Marxgrün
Max Escher (1901–1976), artist and art educator, lived in the village until his death in 1976
