Wilhelm Maier-Solgk

Wilhelm Maier-Solgk (also Wilhelm Maier-Solg , * 1919 in Marxgrün in Upper Franconia ; † 2007 in Munich ) was a German draftsman and illustrator .

Life

During the Second World War, Wilhelm Maier-Solgk began to make war drawings that were exceptional in terms of art history. They can be seen in the Army Museum in Ingolstadt. From 1947 to 1950 he studied at the master school for art in Graz. He finished his studies in Munich at the Munich Art Academy . He then worked as an art teacher in various high schools. In 1969 he gave up this job to devote himself entirely to illustrating and inventing imaginative pictures. He drew non-fiction books, calendar sheets and picture stories for various renowned publishers and for television.
