Die Kunst (forerunner and partial edition: Die Kunst für Alle ; from 1949: Die Kunst und das Schöne Heim ) was a German art magazine that was published by Bruckmann Verlag since 1900 and later by Karl Thiemig in Munich.
history
In 1885 Friedrich Bruckmann founded the periodical Die Kunst für Alle (publisher: Friedrich Pecht ) and in 1897 the magazine Decorative Art . From 1900 both were combined in a complete edition under the title Die Kunst . The first edition appeared in 1900 with the subtitle monthly magazine for free and applied arts , later a monthly magazine for painting, sculpture, graphics, architecture and home decor . The even-numbered volumes were titled Angewandte Kunst and appeared independently from 1900 to 1929 under the title Decorative Art and from 1930 to 1942/43 under the title Das Schöne Heim . The unevenly numbered volumes were subtitled Free Art and appeared from 1900 to 1942/43 under the title Die Kunst für Alle ; The monthly was not published between 1945 and 1948.

From 1949 to 1988, The Art and the Beautiful Home was published: a monthly magazine for painting, sculpture, graphics, architecture and home decor by Thiemig-Verlag. From 1980 the subtitle "... and the beautiful home" was occasionally and from 1984 completely omitted. The authors included the well-known art historians of the time, such as Ludwig Grote , Franz Roh , Juliane Roh , Gerhard Wietek and Wolfgang von Löhneysen . The last issue was published in September 1988, and then it went into the art magazine "Pan" (publisher Franz Burda ).
