The village is located two kilometers west of Hranice and one kilometer north of Kozí Hřbety . About three kilometers northwest of Trojmezí is the triangle Bohemia - Franconia - Saxony , which is why the Czech name of the place means "triangle". Ebmath in Saxony is four kilometers north .

Gottmannsgrün was founded for the first time in the 12th or 13th century but was given up again around 1350. Around fifty years later, a new attempt at settlement was successful, which also extended to the newly founded districts of Untergottmannsgrün and Kaiserhammer. The Ziegenrock settlement was only built about five hundred years later.
Gottmannsgrün was a place with a good infrastructure . In 1939 there were 764 inhabitants in this village. In addition to agriculture, the industrial and service sectors were also represented, and there were over ten local associations.
