Sharon Pardo

Sharon Pardo (born February 17, 1971 in Haifa ) is an Israeli professor of international relations and holder of the Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in European Studies at Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU).

academic career

Pardo received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1996 and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 1997 from the School of Law at the University of Sheffield . He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Ghent University in 2003 . His doctoral thesis was "The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership : From the European unilateralism regional order" (The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership: From European unilateralism to regional regimes).

At the BGU , Pardo teaches on the European integration process , diplomacy and international law . His main research interests are the legal and political dimensions of the common foreign and security policy of the European Union . He is also particularly interested in the development of the Euro-Mediterranean region , relations between Israel and the EU, and relations between Israel and Canada . There are numerous publications by him on all these topics.

Pardo is Senior Researcher at the Simone Veil Research Center for Contemporary European Studies - The National Jean Monnet Center of Excellence at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), of which he was Chairman from 2005 to 2017.

From 2016 to 2018 Pardo was chairman of the Department of Politics and Government at the BGU . He is currently Senior Adjunct Fellow of the National Center for Research on Europe (NCRE) at the University of Canterbury , New Zealand and a member of the board of directors of the Israeli Association for International Studies (IAIS).

He is co-editor of the Europe and the World book series published by Lexington Books .

Pardo is a member of the board of directors of the Israel Council on Foreign Relations (ICFR). He is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Israel Bar Association .
