Steinbach an der Haide is a district of the city of Ludwigsstadt in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .
geography
The parish village of Steinbach an der Haide is located in the Franconian Forest Nature Park . The district road KC 26 leads via Thünahof to Ludwigsstadt to the federal road 85 (3.1 km southwest). Municipal roads lead to Falkenstein (2 km northwest) and to Lichtentanne to the L 2376 (2.3 km east).
history
Around the year 1000 the area was covered by dense primeval forests. After the area came into the possession of the Archbishopric in Cologne , extensive clearing and settlement activities began from the north by the Benedictine monastery Paulinzella near Saalfeld and other secular lords.
Around the 11th century, the Counts of Orlamünde became the owners of the Lauenstein estate. Lauenstein Castle was also built during this period . Steinbach is likely to have been founded around the year 1100. A church was probably built in 1250. In the following centuries until 1622, the fortunes of the place were determined by the respective owners of the Lauenstein lordship.
The first written mention of Steinbach is in 1417 in a document book of the Paulinzella monastery. In a document from the Counts of Schwarzburg, the place was called "Sawsteinbach" (Sausteinbach). This spelling of the place name can be found up to the beginning of the 16th century. Another mention goes back to 1481. Records from 1497 show that Steinbach consisted of a manor with four farms, which was not under the rule of Lauenstein, and 21 other farms. The manor with a chapel may also have been the origin of Steinbach, and the place gradually developed around this manor.
In 1556 Christoph von Thüna bought the manor and added it to the Lauenstein lordship. From the Gut a grand was Vorwerk , the Steinbachshof which was broken up in 1713 and distributed to farmers.
In the Thirty Years' War Steinbach was not spared from the chaos of war and looting. Among other things, Kronach soldiers looted the village church in 1634. The population often sought refuge in the walls of Lauenstein Castle. In 1622, after the purchase by the Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, the end of the Lauenstein rule was sealed and the Lauenstein office was established. In 1636 the church was rebuilt.
At the end of the 18th century there were 34 properties in Steinbach an der Haide. The high court exercised the Bavarian office of Lauenstein . The village and township government had the box office Lauenstein held. The landlords were the Kastenamt Lauenstein (13 estates, 2 half estates, 2 estates, 2 half estates, 5 Hintersättel , 8 houses, 1 grinding and cutting mill ) and the Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeldische Amt Probstzella (1 estate). In addition to the property, there was also 1 parish church, 1 community shepherd's house and brewery.
In 1792 the office with other Franconian possessions was handed over to Prussia and came to the Electorate of Bavaria in 1803 through a state and border exchange treaty . From 1797 to 1808 Steinbach an der Haide was under the Justice and Chamber Office of Lauenstein . With the community edict , the place was assigned to the Lauenstein tax district formed in 1808 . With the Second Community Edict (1818), the rural community Steinbach an der Haide was formed, to which Falkenstein and Steinbachsmühle belonged. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Lauenstein Regional Court ( renamed Ludwigsstadt Regional Court in 1837 ) and the Lauenstein Rent Office for financial administration . In 1815 Steinbach an der Haide was transferred to the Rothenkirchen Rent Office ( renamed the Rothenkirchen Tax Office in 1919 ). From 1862 to 1880 and from 1888 to 1931 Steinbach an der Haide was administered by the Teuschnitz district office, from 1880 to 1888 and from 1931 by the Kronach district office (renamed the Kronach district in 1939 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Ludwigsstadt until 1879, from 1879 district court Ludwigsstadt , which in 1956 became a branch of the district court Kronach . The financial management was taken over in 1929 by the Kronach tax office . The municipality had an area of 6.337 km². After 1925, the Steinbachgrund municipal area was founded.
After the end of the Second World War and the division of Germany, Steinbach came to a border location (the wooded slopes to the north are already in Thuringia).
In the competition Our village should become more beautiful, gold medals were won at federal level in 1967 and 1975.
On January 1, 1978 Steinbach an der Haide was incorporated into Ludwigsstadt.
