The Ludwigsstadt Regional Court was an older Bavarian regional court that existed from 1837 to 1879 and was based in Ludwigsstadt , a town in the Kronach district .

In the Kingdom of Bavaria , the regional courts were judicial and administrative authorities, which were replaced in administrative matters by the district offices in 1862 and in legal matters by the local courts in 1879 .

The stately three-winged building, about 19 × 36 m in size, is located at Lauensteiner Strasse 1 , at the corner of Lindenstrasse . It is located directly at the confluence of the Loquitz and Trogenbach rivers at an altitude of 437  m above sea level. NN .

history

In 1803, in the course of the administrative restructuring of Bavaria, the district court of Lauenstein was established. After the establishment of the Kingdom of Bavaria, this was added to the Mainkreis , whose capital was Bamberg . In 1837 the seat of the Lauenstein Regional Court was relocated to Ludwigsstadt.

The building was built as a salt barn in the late Middle Ages . The three-storey, three-wing secular building has a gable roof with striking bay windows and, after additions and renovations, appears today as a building from the early 19th century. The building is a listed building and serves as the town hall.

Jurisdiction

The Ludwigsstadt district court was originally responsible for an area of ​​57,814  daily works . This corresponds to an area of ​​196 km² today, shared by 25 communities with a total of 60 localities. At the time of the census carried out in 1871, there were a total of 11,381 inhabitants in 2,532 households. The female population at 5,854 only slightly outnumbered the male at 5,527, with 33 residents of the area of ​​responsibility being in active military service. 5,905 souls were Catholics , 5,474  Protestants . Furthermore, a dissident and an unruly person were found who refused to provide any information.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, the Ludwigsstadt District Court was established , the district of which was from the district of the Ludwigsstadt District Court , which had been repealed, with the former communities of Brauersdorf , Buchbach , Ebersdorf , Förtschendorf , Friedersdorf , Haßlach , Hirschfeld , Kehlbach , Kleintettau , Langenau , Lauenhain , Lauenstein , Ludwigsstadt, Marienroth , Ottendorf , Pressig , Reichenbach , Rothenkirchen , Steinbach an der Haide , Steinbach am Wald , Tettau , Teuschnitz , Welitsch , Wickendorf and Windheim was formed.
