history

Buchbach was first mentioned in a document in 1222 as “Buochbach” and initially belonged to the Langheim monastery and later to the Bamberg monastery .

At the end of the 18th century there were 40 properties in Buchbach. The high court and the village and community rulership exercised the Bamberg Centamt Teuschnitz . The Teuschnitz caste office was the landlord of all properties (9 estates, 3 three-quarter estates, 10 semi-estates, 6 quarter estates, 1 eighth estate, 2 drip houses , 8 houses, 1 grinding mill). In addition to the property, there was 1 church, 1 schoolhouse, 1 community pastoral house and brewery, as well as 4 semi-estates and 1 quarter estate that were uninhabited.

As a result of secularization , the place became part of Bavaria in 1803. With the municipal edict in 1808, the Buchbach tax district was formed, to which Kehlbach belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Buchbach was formed. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Teuschnitz district court and in financial management to the Rothenkirchen Rent Office ( renamed the Rothenkirchen Tax Office in 1919 ). In 1837 Buchbach was transferred to the Ludwigsstadt district court . From 1862 to 1880 and from 1888 to 1931 Buchbach was administered by the Teuschnitz district office, from 1880 to 1888 and from 1931 by the Kronach district office (renamed the Kronach district in 1939 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Ludwigsstadt until 1879, from 1879 district court Ludwigsstadt , which in 1956 became a branch of the district court Kronach . The financial management was taken over in 1929 by the Kronach tax office . The municipality had an area of 3,996 km².

On May 1, 1978 Buchbach was incorporated into Steinbach am Wald.
