Rudolphstein

Rudolphstein is a district of the municipality Berg (Upper Franconia) in the district of Hof in Bavaria .

Rudolphstein lies in the floodplain of a Saale knee south of the Saale opposite the Thuringian village of Sparnberg . The federal motorway 9 passes to the east and crosses the Saale over the Saale bridge in the immediate vicinity.

history

For the history of the Berger Winkel see Berg (Upper Franconia) . The Rudolphstein manor, which is under monument protection , is a bed and breakfast hotel in the center of the district. Before that, the building was a castle with components from different centuries. The courtyard is a listed building, the oldest building dates from the 15th century.

A single arch bridge, marked “1794”, is also on the list of architectural monuments.

From 1966 to 1989 Rudolphstein was a border town on the inner-German border and namesake of the border crossing on the A 9 (on the GDR side Hirschberg (Saale) in Thuringia ).

On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the municipality of Berg.
