The Brunei ( Malay Sungai Brunei ) is a wide but short river in Brunei in the Brunei-Muara district .

It is created by the confluence of the two rivers Kayal (Malay Sungai Kayal ) and Limau Manis (Malay Sungai Limau Manis ) and has a length of 41 kilometers. It flows into Brunei Bay about 10 km northeast of the capital Bandar Seri Begawan .
Culture
A tourist attraction of the river is the Kampong Ayer , the so-called water village in Bandar Seri Begawan. These are pile dwellings on both sides of the river up to the mouth.
Traditional boat races are held on the river once a year.
