history

Dürrenwaid was a separate municipality in the Kronach district until 1972. In 1921 citizens of Dürrenwaider founded a settlement cooperative due to a lack of building land and cleared the Silberhügel forest department above the Ölsnitztal. Silberstein came into being. In 1968 the Christ Church on the edge of the forest was consecrated. During the regional reform in Bavaria, Dürrenwaid lost its independence on July 1, 1972 and joined Geroldsgrün in the Hof district. In addition to the main town, the districts Silberstein, Dürrenwaiderhammer and Langenbachtal belonged to the former municipality of Dürrenwaid . Together they had about 500 inhabitants. In 1976 Dürrenwaid / Silberstein received the award of a state-approved resort from the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior .

politics

Since the incorporation, three councils from Dürrenwaid have been represented in the Geroldsgrüner municipal council. Currently these are: Ludwig Wich (SPD), Hans-Peter Wich (CSU) and Wilfried Löhner (SPD). The first mayor of Geroldsgrün Helmut Oelschlegel (SPD) also comes from Dürrenwaid.
