Unterkotzau is a district in the north district in the independent city of Hof in Bavaria .

location

The northern Regnitz flows into the Saale there . Unterkotzau is on the Leipzig – Hof railway line . The districts of Studentenberg and Hofeck and the municipality of Köditz border in the west, the municipality of Feilitzsch borders in the north.

history

The Unterkotzau manor was located in Unterkotzau , and its owners included the von Murring , Sparneck and Feilitzsch families . The place has a medieval town center, whose special features include several residential stalls. The 174 m long Unterkotzau viaduct is located in Unterkotzau. On April 12, 1945 this bridge was the target of an Allied air raid; However, the bombers missed their target and there were numerous deaths, especially in a camp with slave labor. On July 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the independent city of Hof.

Attractions

As a former independent municipality, Unterkotzau has an old town center . There are several farmsteads and other half-timbered houses , many of which are listed. The location in the Saale valley, nestled between hills and rocky slopes, is scenic.

The Hof volunteer fire brigade maintains guard 11 in Unterkotzau. The Hof sewage treatment plant is located in the district.

From Unterkotzau, line 11 of the Hof city buses goes to the Wartturmweg and on to Jägersruh.
