The Nördliche Regnitz or Untere Regnitz is a right tributary of the Saxon Saale in the district of Hof in Upper Franconia .
It has two source streams. The first rises at about 570 m above sea level. NN between Münchenreuth and Gutenfürst (Gem. Weischlitz ) ( 50 ° 25 ′ 1 ″ N , 11 ° 56 ′ 29 ″ E ) and is called Heubach in its upper reaches , from a pond near the hamlet of Föhrig (Gem. Trogen ) then Litschenbach . The second is the Aubach , which has its source about 580 m above sea level. NN near the Feilitz part of the community Unterhartmannsreuth ( 50 ° 24 ′ 1 ″ N , 11 ° 55 ′ 24 ″ E ). The confluence lies exactly below the A72 motorway , just west of the Hochfranken motorway triangle . From here the Regnitz flows in a south-westerly direction through Feilitzsch and reaches in the Hof district of Unterkotzau at 465 m above sea level. NN the Saale. Its total length including the Litschenbach is about 10 km.
