history

The origin of the districts and hamlets of Feilitzsch is linked to the ancient nobility of the Franconian Vogtland. This ancient nobility settled here around 1200 and had the settlers clear the forest and expand the land.

The village was shelled by American artillery shortly before the end of the war in 1945. On the north side of the village, several properties caught fire from incendiary grenades. One resident was killed. The south side of the town was shot at by a battery with HE shells. This part of the place got away unscathed. The reason for the bombardment was a small unit of Hitler Youths who shot an American reconnaissance tank on fire from a small wood (the "Schollenbühl") as they approached Unterhartmannsreuth.

After the war, until 1989, the village was only about 1.5 km away from the cordoned off inner-German border . In 2005, 196 people lived in Unterhartmannsreuth.

Others
