Resurrection Church in Hof-Moschendorf

Moschendorf [ ˈmoːʃəndorf ] is a district in the southern district of the independent town of Hof in Bavaria . The formerly independent community was incorporated on April 1, 1906. Moschendorf is located in the south of Hof and is now the second largest district after Krötenbruck with around 5,000 inhabitants .

location

Moschendorf is located in the south of the city of Hof. To the north border the districts of Krötenbruck, Alsenberg and Otterberg, they belonged to the municipality of Moschendorf before the incorporation. To the west is the Eppenreuth district , to the south the Markt Oberkotzau and to the east the municipality of Döhlau . In the south of Moschendorf, on Lindenbühl, lies the Untreusee , a local recreation area of the city.

history

In the 14th century the settlement of the Moschendorf municipality began. The name Moschendorf probably goes back to the knight family Moschler. The Moschler owned properties between the roads to Wunsiedel and Bayreuth in the south of the city of Hof.

The former community of Moschendorf consisted of the districts Alsenberg / Otterberg, Anspann, Erlalohe, Krötenbruck and Moschendorf. The size of the municipality can still be read from the district of Moschendorf of the city of Hof.

In 2006, from April 29th to May 1st, Moschendorf celebrated 100 years of incorporation into Hof .

Culture and sights

The Church of the Resurrection is the house of worship of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Moschendorf. When it was incorporated into Hof, Moschendorf was granted its own cemetery , the only Hofer Gottesacker next to the municipal cemetery. However, since the Moschendorf cemetery is very small, the right to be buried there is only available to residents of the streets that belonged to the former municipality of Moschendorf when it was incorporated. All other deceased in the Moschendorf district are buried in the municipal cemetery on Plauener Straße.

The Stelzenhof is a former manorial estate, the history of which goes back to the Middle Ages.

The district of Moschendorf houses the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Hof with a synagogue and community rooms in Oberkotzauer Straße.

The mixed choir Hof-Moschendorf 1906 e. V., founded as a workers', gymnastics and choral society in Moschendorf, is the largest choral society in Hof.

In the old core of Moschendorf there are smaller shops and a restaurant.

school

In Moschendorf there is a primary school with grades 1 to 4. Grades 5 and 6 of the secondary school have been transferred to the neighboring Münster school . There is a branch of the Hof City Library in the school building.

Moschendorf camp

Moschendorf is known for the Moschendorf subcamp , which was located on the factory premises of the Moschendorf porcelain factory (1878–1957) from 1941 onwards. After the Second World War (1945–1962) the large refugee camp Moschendorf was there.

Economy and Infrastructure

On the site of the former refugee camp there is a factory of the listed textile company Hoftex Group . A plant of the textile manufacturer Tenowo belongs to the joint stock company in the non wovens branch and produces nonwovens . A clothing manufacturer and a manufacturer of electric drives have settled nearby.

The Hof printing center is also in Moschendorf. The location is close to the B 15 . The newspapers Frankenpost , Nordbayerischer Kurier and Blickpunkt are printed in the printing center.

There are many furniture stores in the district and two hardware stores since 2019.

Moschendorf is on the Bamberg – Hof , Regensburg – Hof and the international Eger – Selb – Hof railway lines. Between 1897 and 1900 there was a train stop at Moschendorf. It was located next to the textile group's factory. In the 1980s, the Hof-Moschendorf train station was closed. Then at the former train station, the railway line crosses the Saale on the Moschendorf viaduct. In the 1940s, the railway line from Hof via Moschendorf to Oberkotzau was expanded to three tracks in order to ensure an efficient connection between the Oberkotzau marshalling yard and Hof Central Station. The Moschendorfer Saal viaduct was expanded to a total of four tracks.

Moschendorf is connected to the city of Hof and Hof Central Station by several city bus routes operated by Stadtwerke Hof .

Alsenberg / Otterberg

The former districts of Alsenberg and Otterberg belong to the district with the eponymous Otterberg. The quarter was already being built upon in the early days of the company. This is where the headquarters of the Dörsch bakery, a regional bakery chain, is located.
