Manor Unterkotzau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Unterkotzau manor is an abandoned residence in Unterkotzau , today a district of Hof .

The residence was built to secure two fords across the Saale and was secured with a moat . In 1390 Albe Weiß was given as the owner, later it was the Murring family , the von Sparneck and the von Feilitzsch families . The castle was captured by the Plauen troops during the siege of Hof in 1553 . Other owners were the Ratisborsky von Sechzebus, who came to Unterkotzau and Köditz as Bohemian exiles during the Thirty Years' War . Colonel Gellhorn expanded the castle at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1734 it was finally sold to Hofer Bierbrauer, later belonged to Kronenbräu and was finally part of the Falter Castle Brewery. The last existing building was demolished in March 1990. Due to traces of the previous buildings, the site is a ground monument. The name Rittergasse reminds of the location.
