Krötenmühle is a district of the market Bad Steben in the district of Hof in the administrative region of Upper Franconia in northeast Bavaria .
The desert is in the middle of the Franconian Forest Nature Park , north of the core town of Bad Steben and directly on the northern border with Thuringia on the Thuringian Muschwitz , a 9.4 km long border stream between Bavaria and Thuringia. It can be reached via various hiking trails, including the geology and mining nature trail, which leads to the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Stollen . Access is via a junction from the district road HO 29 in Carlsgrün . The mill, toad mill 2, was used as a restaurant for a while. It is a listed building . The current building with its characteristic half-hipped roof dates from 1827.
