Kemlas is a district of Issigau in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

The scattered settlement is located on the district road HO 8 between Blankenberg and Eisenbühl or Hadermannsgrün , mostly south of it. A connecting road leads to Issigau. The Zottelbach flows past the northernmost part of the village , a left tributary of the Saale .

To the north of Kemlas, the Saale formed the German-German border and today it separates the federal states of Bavaria and Thuringia from one another. The Blankeneck castle stable is evidence of the border location from earlier times . According to Kretschmann , there were the mines "Patience" and "Rich blessing of God" with the mining of iron and copper. In the latter, pebbles were also mined. Above the place there are indications of a desert called "wig".

The formerly independent municipality with its districts Ober- and Unterkemlas was incorporated into Issigau during the regional reform on January 1, 1975.
