The Landeshauptmannschaft Hof was an administrative area of ​​the Principality of Bayreuth , which was ruled by a branch line of the Hohenzollern until 1791/92 .

The Landeshauptmannschaft Hof emerged during the first half of the 16th century from the "Hof military district" established in 1498. In 1777 the Oberamt Lichtenberg was incorporated, in 1779 the Oberamt Stockenroth .

In 1791 the area of ​​the Landeshauptmannschaft Hof was 17 square miles . There were 41,213 inhabitants, distributed among 7,189 houses and 129 grinding and flour mills. Bailiwick of Rehau

The Bailiwick of Rehau was sold to the Burgraviate of Nuremberg in the 14th century by the Lords of Kotzau for 800 Hungarian gold guilders . Pilgramsreuth was originally a manor that the Lords of Beulwitz of Brandenburg-Kulmbach had received as a man fief . Schwarzenbach am Wald and Bernstein were originally manors of the Lords of Reitzenstein , who had received it as a fiefdom from Brandenburg-Kulmbach.
