Benk is a district of the municipality Bindlach in the district of Bayreuth in the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Franconia .

geography

The parish village of Benk is located between Bindlach and Bad Berneck on the edge of the Fichtelgebirge . It has 408 inhabitants (as of January 6, 2008) and is located at an altitude of approx. 425 m above sea level. NN .

Benk is located on Bundesstraße 2 and the A 9 motorway near the Bayreuth / Kulmbach motorway triangle and the A 70 in the direction of Bamberg .

history

In the course of the regional reform on January 1, 1978, the then independent municipality of Benk with its districts Deps, Doebitsch, Hermannsthal, Katzeneichen, Schrot was incorporated into the municipality of Bindlach.

Others

The place is namesake for the Benk formation (formerly Benker Sandstein), a lithostratigraphic formation of the Keuper in the Germanic Triassic .
