The von Nanckenreuth family , also Nankenreuth or Nanckenreith, were a Frankish noble family.

history

The von Nanckenreuth family owned the Schreez manor in what is now the Bayreuth area , consisting of Haag (Hagennohe) and Unternschreez. It was also organized in the knight canton of Gebürg (see also list of Frankish knight families ). Owning a castle property within the Bayreuth city walls was a special privilege . Apollonia von Nanckenreuth was the mother of Grand Master Johann Kaspar von Stadion (1567–1641). Johann Heinrich von Nanckenreuth was Bamberg cathedral capitular in 1559 (see also the list of Bamberg canons ). The family died out in 1613.

In 1747 Johann Gottfried Biedermann determined in his genealogy of the Nanckenreuth family that a place of the same name is unknown. Only 17 family members make up the family tree, which begins at the beginning of the 16th century with Egidius von Nanckenreuth. The related sexes included predominantly local aristocratic families: Adolzheim, Bibra , Blumenthal , Gundelsheim zu Schwaningen, Gundelsheim zu Steinhart, Guttenberg , Künsberg and Leonrod .

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a silver lily-shaped spear point - a poker, also known as a nanken, on a red background. The helmet covers are red and silver. The crest is a red open flight between again the spear point in silver.
