Location of Kainach north of Hollfeld

Kainach is a district of Hollfeld with 144 inhabitants in the western part of the Bayreuth district .

Kainach can be reached from Hollfeld through the Kainach Valley or in the direction of Wonsees . In Kainach, the left Schwalbach and the right Kaiserbach unite to form the Kainach , which drains south and flows into the Wiesent from the left in Hollfeld . Both source streams have longer, dry upper valleys, while the Schwalbach, which runs steadily, has its source near Schirradorf . The valley axis Kainachtal – Schwalbachtal is a hiking route and can be hiked through to Wonsees . The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

On January 1, 1971, Kainach was incorporated into Wonsees, but was reclassified to the city of Hollfeld on July 1, 1972.

About 650 meters north-northwest of the center of Kainach is the Burgstall Rupprechtsteine , also known as the Burgstall on the Rupprechtsteinen. This is a castle site of an unknown medieval castle, possibly a predecessor of the Veste Kainach, today's castle.
