Drosendorf on the Aufseß
Drosendorf an der Aufseß is a district of Hollfeld in the Bavarian administrative district of Upper Franconia .
location
Drosendorf is located on the upper reaches of the Aufseß in the northern part of Franconian Switzerland and in the far west of the city of Hollfeld and the district of Bayreuth.
history
Drosendorf was settled in the Neolithic Age. This is indicated by early Neolithic ceramic finds under a rock roof.
Until the administrative reform, Drosendorf formed a separate municipality with the neighboring village of Voitmannsdorf in the district of Ebermannstadt . The two parts of the community were separated on July 1, 1971. Voitmannsdorf came to the municipality of Königsfeld in the district of Bamberg , Drosendorf came to the city of Hollfeld in the district of Bayreuth .
church
The population of Drosendorf is predominantly Catholic and belonged to the Neuhaus parish , which is now part of Aufseß . The branch church in Drosendorf is dedicated to St. Laurentius and stands on a hill directly next to the former school building. It was built in 1719 by the Scheßlitz builders Gregor and Dionysius Finsterwalder.
Furnishing
The two side altars were made by the " Hollfeld carpenter ", Nikolaus Trautner, in 1739. The left side altar shows the Immaculate Conception and the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul . St. Joseph is depicted on the right side altar , as well as figures of St. John Nepomuk and Gangolf .
The pulpit and gallery are in the Rococo style. The stations of the cross are partly from the later 18th century.
Renovations
During renovation work on the tower cross in 1937, Kuratus JB Gagel deposited a brief complaining about the suppression of the church and freedom of expression. These documents were discovered in 1990 when the tower cross was renewed.
In 1961 new retaining walls were built from the school building to the new staircase. During renovation work on the foundations of the walls, many bones and skulls from the old cemetery were found.
