The Verbandsgemeinde Kusel was an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional body in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The association community included the city of Kusel and 17 independent local communities , the administrative seat was in the eponymous city of Kusel.
On January 1, 2018, the Kusel association was dissolved, the associated municipalities were assigned to the new Kusel-Altenglan association.

history
The Verbandsgemeinde Kusel was formed on January 1, 1971 as part of the functional and territorial reform of Rhineland-Palatinate that began in the 1960s . It belonged to the association communities in the administrative region of Rheinhessen-Pfalz , which were set up prematurely within the "voluntary phase".
According to the administrative structure from the Palatinate (Bavaria) (1816-1946), the municipalities were previously administratively assigned to mayor's offices:
- Mayor's office Konken: Municipalities of Albessen , Herchweiler , Konken and Selchenbach
- Mayor's office Kusel: City of Kusel and communities of Blaubach , Bledesbach , Dennweiler-Frohnbach , Ehweiler , Körborn , Pfeffelbach , Reichweiler , Ruthweiler , Schellweiler and Thallichtenberg
- Theisbergstegen mayor's office: municipalities Etschberg , Haschbach am Remigiusberg and Theisbergstegen
- Ulmet Mayor's Office: Oberalben

Association municipal council
The Kusel municipal council consisted of 28 honorary council members who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 25, 2014 , and the full-time mayor as chairman.
