Bledesbach is a district of the Rhineland-Palatinate country town of Kusel . Until 1974 it was an independent community.

location

The place is in the so-called Musikantenland , a part of the North Palatinate Bergland two kilometers southwest of the city center. The stream of the same name flows through it. Bledesbach also includes the Bärenfelderhof , which is located northeast of the rest of the settlement area.

history

From the 12th century the place belonged to the County of Veldenz and from the 15th century to Pfalz-Zweibrücken ; it was first mentioned in 1436. It was destroyed twice in the 17th century. From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Bledesbach was incorporated into the canton of Kusel . In 1815 the place Austria was added. Just one year later, the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria ; there Bledesbach was subordinate to the mayor's office Kusel . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Kusel , which was then converted into a district office.

In 1928 Bledesbach had 281 residents who lived in 57 residential buildings. Both the Catholics and the Protestants belonged to the parish of Kusel at the time. In 1939 the place was incorporated into the Kusel district. After the Second World War , Bledesbach became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the place became part of the newly formed Kusel association . Two years later, on March 17, 1974, Bledesbach was incorporated into the city of Kusel.

Mayor

Matthias Schäffler (SPD) became mayor of Bledesbach on June 26, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected mayor for five years with 77.99% of the vote. Eckhard Buchholz (SPD), as Schäffler's predecessor, was the district mayor for many years.

Culture

The only cultural monument on site is a side-by-side house on Eckweg from 1877.

traffic

The federal highway 420 touches the western edge of the settlement. The state road 360 runs through Bledesbach and connects the place with the Kuseler core city as well as with Wahnwege . The place is connected to the local transport network via the bus lines 280 and 288 of the transport association Rhein-Neckar , which connect it with the core city of Kusel and Homburg .
