El Mago Masin
El Mago Masin (born July 2, 1969 in Roth ), bourgeois Wolfgang Masin , is a German musician and cabaret artist .
Life
Wolfgang Masin grew up in Georgensgmünd in Central Franconia and initially trained as a boat builder . He then studied aquaristics (marine biology) for three semesters before devoting himself entirely to the stage. He attended the vocational school for music in the Upper Palatinate district in Sulzbach-Rosenberg ( Upper Palatinate ) and studied guitar at the Nuremberg University of Music . He financed his studies as a music teacher at private teaching institutes. The center of his life in Nuremberg - Gostenhof - quickly brought him into contact with the local music center (MUZ e.V. ) and his first successes with his band Wildcamping became apparent.
The regional successes were soon followed by more reputable bookings at a large number of festivals, such as the Wuzdog Open Air (2008), the Pfeffelbach Open Air (2011), and the Chiemsee Reggae Summer (2013).
Hip-length dreadlocks and a slightly confused character have become his distinguishing features as a stage figure.
In parallel to the band's activities, Masin continued to develop his solo programs, which are characterized by humorous songs with guitar accompaniment, verbal contributions and sometimes slightly bizarre to Dadaist content.
After a few extras roles , TV solo performances, e.g. B. in the Quatsch Comedy Club at MDR and as a stand-up comedian at WDR NightWash .
On stage he prefers unconventional forms of art. In the roll backwards program (Premiere 2015), for example, the entire evening runs backwards. Masin starts with the encore and ends with the soundcheck .
El Mago Masin also never misses a certain ambivalence. For example, he always gives his friends 1969 as his year of birth, but always gives press representatives as 1980, and always leaves July 2nd undisputed.
In the meantime, Wolfgang Masin has won numerous awards and completed a large number of TV shows. He never lost touch with the ground to his starting blocks, such as the MUZ Club Nuremberg, the Scharfrichterhaus (Passau) , the Theater Fifty-Fifty in Erlangen or the Kulturfabrik Roth , where he regularly plays sold-out shows every year.
Wolfgang Masin is married and has two children.
