Quarry on Steinberg

The Steinbruch am Steinberg nature reserve is located in the Kusel district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The 11.7 ha area, which was placed under nature protection by ordinance of December 18, 1995 , extends northwest of the local community Albessen and northeast the local community Herchweiler .
The A 62 runs east of the area, the L 317 state road to the west and the B 420 to the south . The state border with Saarland runs along the western and northwestern edge of the area .
The nature reserve is an abandoned quarry with rock faces, spoil heaps , bodies of water and pioneering societies.
