The parish of Obere Nahe is a parish of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .

It has existed since April 1, 2010 and was created through the merger of the Birkenfeld parish with the Rhineland-Palatinate part of the St. Wendel parish . It currently comprises 35 parishes with 47,274 parishioners. The seat of the superintendent is Idar-Oberstein .

The county Synod voted in its inaugural session on 16 April 2010 in Birkenfeld to Birkenfeld Pastor Edgar Shepherd, previously superintendent of the church district Birkenfeld was the first superintendent of the church district. In 2014, Jutta Walber, pastor of the Oberstein parish, was elected as his successor. It was on January 4th, 2015 by the President of the Ev. Church in the Rhineland, Manfred Rekowski , introduced into the office of superintendent.
