history

The first written mention of the place name took place in 1128 as Sinede . Since 1112 the place was part of the County of Veldenz . Local rule was divided in the 13th century . One half belonged to the Wildgraves , the other half, after changing ownership several times, from 1431 to the Lords of Sickingen . In 1765 the time of the condominate ended and Sien was completely under Johann XI. Dominik Albert Prince of Salm-Kyrburg . After the French Revolution , the village was part of the canton of Grumbach in the Saar department . In the Congress of Vienna it was added to the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg-Saalfeld (1816–1826), from 1826 it belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha , each to the exclave of the Principality of Lichtenberg . In 1834 this and with it Sien fell to Prussia . On April 1, 1939, the previously independent community of Sienerhöfe was incorporated.
