The Scherkonde is an approximately 26 km long left tributary of the Lossa in the Weimarer Land district and in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia .
course
The Scherkonde rises in the locality of Wohlsborn on the northern slope of the Ettersberg northeast of Weimar and initially flows in a northerly direction before it turns to the northwest at Großbrembach. The Lossa tributary flows through two smaller lakes north of Schwerstedt and Krautheim . The total run is about 26 km. On its way, the Scherkonde is dammed twice for flood protection purposes to the Großbrembach and Frohndorf reservoirs . Furthermore, the course of the stream has largely been straightened and is therefore to be regarded as very monotonous.
Scherkondetal Bridge
The frame bridge Scherkondetalbrücke was built from 2008 to 2011 as part of the new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle line.
