The Feilebach is a left tributary of the White Elster .

geography

The Feilebach rises in an open space west of the village of Gassenreuth, municipality of Triebel / Vogtl. in Saxony near the state border with Bavaria . At first it flows in a north-westerly direction parallel to the national border. At one point this is touched. However, the stream is piped here due to the former border barriers . The Feilebach flows through the Fuchspöhl and Feilebach nature reserves as far as the Wiedersberg foothills, both of which are part of the Green Belt project . From Wiedersberg the direction of flow changes to the northeast. The Feilebach is then dammed three times, first in the Ramoldsreuth-Süd foothills, then in the Ramoldreuth pre-dam and finally in the Dröda drinking water dam , also known as the Feilebach dam. Within the storage area, the Feilebach absorbs the water from its largest tributary, the Schafbach. The Feilebach flows into the White Elster near the motorway bridge at Pirk . In the lower reaches of the Feilebach in particular, a 60 to 100 m deep sole valley has formed.

History

The Feilebach was once lined with numerous mills . The first mill after the source area was near Sachsgrün at the junction to the road to Loddenreuth , the Bachmühle, which is only remembered today by the field name Mühlbergel. At Troschenreuth was the Troschenreuther mill, which was demolished together with the place in the 1970s for reasons of the GDR border security. In Wiedersberg there was the upper mill mentioned in 1573, also known as the wedge mill or wedge mill after a former owner, as well as the Haagmühle mill, also mentioned in 1573 and still preserved today. Further downstream near Wiedersberg was the hammer mill belonging to Heinersgrün , which, like the Riedelmühle in Ramoldsreuth, had to give way to the construction of the dam.
